“These are the Tribes into which our community is realigning itself. We see it even in small town politics where the idea that we don’t want “those people” has nothing to do with race or other identity politics type sectioning, but rather with adherence to the once common consensus about what it means to be an American. On all sides people once agreed on a set of cultural norms which defined us. With the rejection of those norms and their collapse over the last fifty years, we have devolved into tribal groups and the internecine wars which result.
