Liberal Arrogance

A Climate Change discussion devolves into insults…

I had the occasion recently to engage in a debate of sorts with a group of followers of the DeSmog Blog, an echo chamber for supporters of climate change as fact. The blog posted poll results on climate change, claiming that the majority of Americans believe in human caused global warming.

I posted a single comment which resulted in a firestorm of replies. I thought I would share the last couple with you as they are instructive regarding the arrogance of liberals. As we all know, they know everything. And if you disagree with them you are simply a moron.

Here are the comments between myself and the King of Arrogance, someone with the handle “Robert Dekko”, ending with my final retort. This particular exchange began when I stated the following regarding climate change studies…

LibsAreNuts – Probability is the key word.

Dekko – Yeah, you know, with the root Probable or “likely to be the case to happen.” So, a probability is how likely is something to happen. For example, it’s Highly Unlikely you’re actually the one whose nuts because you don’t seem to be able to grasp this concept very well.

LibsAreNuts – Right. Aren’t you so very smart and so very glib. I grasp the concept that I’m not buying the BS from you and yours on the yet unproven AGW, global warming, climate change, or even the greenhouse effect as related to Man’s contribution to same.

You’re just another in a long line of arrogant know-it-all Libs who know so much that either isn’t true or can’t be proven. And, OMG, this guy must be an idiot if he doesn’t agree with our strongly held opinions.

Get lost, you arrogant ass. You’re just another in a long line of smartass Libs who resort to name-calling as a core strategy when someone doesn’t embrace your unparalleled brilliance. Have you ever bothered to look around and notice how just about everything liberals touch turns to crap? I have. Here, chew on this for starters…

  • Inner cities (and every single one of them dominated by the Left. Nice job!)
  • Education (America’s students are some of the worst educated in the world and the Left owns the teacher’s unions and thus primary and secondary education in this country)
  • Health Care (Obamacare is an unmitigated disaster to the point that it is imploding. Nice job!)
  • The economy (or have you not noticed that the economy is on an historic upswing since the election?)
  • National defense (We were on the brink of war on several fronts with Obama in the White House and ISIS was on the rise. Now, ISIS is being systematically eradicated across the Middle East.))
  • Welfare (The Great Society programs and all that has followed have spent trillions of taxpayer dollars only to make the problem worse)
  • Social Security (It’s on the brink of insolvency and yet the Left continues to embrace its fundamental structure)

And yet I’m supposed to believe the likes of you regarding all you say about so-called global warming?  Get real.

Dekko –

Right. Aren’t you so very smart and so very glib.

Well, thanks for the compliment on the smarts but… “glib”? Was that supposed to be a retort? It doesn’t take much sincerity to copy/paste a definition of something. Perhaps you wanted to sound smart yourself? Too bad.. stop trying so hard.

I grasp the concept that I’m not buying the BS from you and yours on the yet unproven AGW, global warming, climate change, or even the greenhouse effect as related to Man’s contribution to same.

Well, since you’re just someone using a jackass political flame handle, I’m not really concerned that you may be someone who is important enough in any way for us to a give a shit if YOU don’t believe in AGW 🙂

Also, you undo yourself… if you understood you’d get the fact that “highly likely” is just about as close to proof as anyone is ever going to get without something like God himself ascending and putting a rubber stamp of approval [HERE BE THE TRUTH]… short of that, We have to rely on probabilities to form beliefs and not just in science, in every day life. In fact, in every day life we make decisions based far less certain probabilities. Humans typically accept things only about 50-75% certainty… we typically are very trusting, it’s very tedious and annoying to insist on anything beyond that.

In science, though, instead of attempting to do the impossible and prove something 100%, we can do the next best thing and < a href=reduce” rel=”nofollow noopener”>https://en.wikipedia.org/wi… uncertainty in order to say that things are “Almost Certain to happen.
If you still don’t think that “Highly Likely” is as close to proof as we really need, then you and I should gamble sometime and you wait for more than 93% certainty before you bet or raise and we’ll see who wins 😉

You’re just another in a long line of arrogant know-it-all Libs who know so much that either isn’t true o r can’t be proven.

I do know a lot that isn’t true and can’t be proven, religion is one of those things. Of course, I also know a lot of things that are true and can be proven, such as Anthropogenic Climate Change. Proof consists of evidence that reduces uncertainty.

And, OMG, this guy must be an idiot if he doesn’t agree with our strongly held opinions.

Says the guy with the name “LibsAreNuts”. It’s not like you’re even trying to come off as reasonable, stop whining.

Get lost, you arrogant ass.

Not sure if you noticed but this is our blog.. why don’t you get lost?

You’re just another in a long line of smartass Libs who resort to name-calling as a core strategy when so meone doesn’t embrace your unparalleled brilliance.

Again with the compliments, I’d rather be a smartass Lib than a dumbass Con, but you embody the problem you’re flaming against in your own name… don’t go somewhere with a “Fuck You” shirt and get mad when people say “Fuck You” back.

Have you ever bothered to look around and notice how just about everything liberals touch turns to crap? I have. Here, chew on this for starters…

*Eye roll* This should be interesting…

*Inner cities (and every single one of them dominated by the Left. Nice job!)

I think you mean Big Cities and liberals didn’t “create” the inner cities just because more liberals tend to live in big cities… what a moronic idea.

*Education (America’s students are some of the worst educated in the world and the Left owns the teacher’s unions and thus primary and secondary education in this country)

Um, if you conservatives would stop CUTTING ALL THE FKING MONEY TO THE SCHOOLS then things might actually get funded, but no, all you ever do is “DEREGULATE, CUT THOSE PROGRAMS”. You want better schools, foot the bill. Also, it’s not like you’re well educated yourself, you don’t even understand probabilities.

*Health Care (Obamacare is an unmitigated disaster to the point that it is imploding. Nice job!)

You guys keep saying that but Obamacare got 20 million more people insurance, made insurance more comprehensive, and lowered the deficit. All the years you guys spent trying to resist it, how are you guys doing on the replacement yet? Oh yeah, and Trumpcare is such a smashing success that it hasn’t even been agreed upon. Are you guys gonna fix that thing yet or what? I’ll tell ya, you’re sure impotent with your House, Senate, Executive control. If it was so easy to handle, why didn’t Trump fix it the first week in office like he said? I think it’s ’cause Con’s can’t govern, they can only conspiracy about it, but when tell comes to show you’ve got nothing. You heard your orange faced lummox, Healthcare is hard (harder than anyone knew!)

The economy (or have you not noticed that the economy is on an historic upswing since the election?)

Since the election of Obama, sure, but any idiot knows that the state of the economy after an election is an artifact of the previous official; i.e. Obama inherited a Bushy mess, cleaned house despite being demonized (literally), and then Trump inherits a fully functioning economy. Though, if you think that the economy has done better (not just consumer confidence) then you don’t know the difference between “soft data” and “hard data”. There’s no uptick in actual measured GDP. You know, this reminds me of the Budget Surplus that Clinton had that Bush inherited and subsequently reversed. If anyone wears the badge of having routinely screwed the economy, it’s on the Cons.

*National defense (We were on the brink of war on several fronts with Obama in the White House and ISIS was on the rise. Now, ISIS is being systematically eradicated across the Middle East.))

It’s not like ISIS was winning in November and gone by February. Also, your completely uninformed president talked crap about the highly esteemed generals and heroic soldiers who are REALLY to thank for stopping ISIS, not ANY of the presidents or politicians. His brash idiocy in handling the armed forces could only be explained away in the fact that the man has never even done a day of manual labor in his life, let alone fought in a fking war… oh, and in case you try to accuse me of not, I was in Naval Aviation.)

*Welfare (The Great Society programs and all that has followed have spent trillions of taxpayer dollars only to make the problem worse)

No, we don’t spend 1 trillion on welfare each year… it’s less than 5% of the GDP… honestly, it’s not really a problem, and, in most cases it’s deserved, only a small number of cases are fraudulent it’s not easy to fake disability, it is in fact quite hard to get. In essence, the amount we spend on welfare is what it takes to keep our sick, young and old safe…

*Social Security (It’s on the brink of insolvency and yet the Left continues to embrace its fundamental structure)

Um, nope.

Because the combined OASI and DI Trust Funds have accumulated assets of over $2.5 trillion, the excess of program cost over current tax income will be covered by net redemption of these assets in the coming years. It is only when the reserves in the trust funds are exhausted that timely payment of full scheduled benefits becomes an issue. As shown in the chart, at the time of projected trust fund exhaustion in 2037, continuing tax revenue is expected to be sufficient to cover 76 percent of the currently scheduled benefits. This precipitous drop in the level of benefits that would be payable in the absence of any legislative action between now and 2037 is the principal and most significant early warning provided in the 2009 Trustees Report. SSA.gov

LibsAreNuts…

Dear Mr. Dicko,

Your reply to my points about major social, political and economic issues facing our country are a perfect example of the sad reality that there is a huge divide between the Left and the Right in America; one which will never be bridged. Ever. I can take every single issue you mentioned in your reply and cite opposing data, statistics and opinions as fact to defend the conservative position. It all really boils down to one simple disagreement: liberals believe we’re all in this thing called life together and conservatives believe we’re all in it alone (think personal responsibility). We will never agree, and there will be no compromise. Someone will win and someone will lose.

You guys overplayed your hand over the last eight years and you lost in the most recent election. Meet President Donald J. Trump. And don’t forget the House, Senate and thousands of state and local seats you lost. That should be a clue for you about the popularity of Obama’s era of “fundamental change”. America is not even close to being ready to become a socialist or European socialist, or communist country, but millions of you want some flavor of that. What does that have to do with our cute little climate change debate? Plenty, as this is just one manifestation of the “we’re all in this together” meme, and clearly the most impactful worldwide. THERE WILL BE SKEPTICS. Count me among them.

Now as to your childish accusation that I copy/pasted any parts of my reply to you, I didn’t. I guess you just can’t imagine a dimwitted conservative being capable of articulating his defense anywhere near as well as Your Excellence.

And one last thing regarding “your blog”. You might want to speak to the administrator of “your blog” because I didn’t even know that “your blog” existed until it showed up in my inbox one day. Apparently, he or someone with the ability to do so, signed me up to receive it without neither my knowledge, nor my permission. I immediately unsubscribed from the blog, but not before reading the post about the climate change poll. I made ONE comment and then came the firestorm. That was quite instructive about the open-mindedness of the followers of the blog, but not surprising as that’s what liberals do. They stifle debate by attacking the messenger with insults. It’s a core strategy.

Anyway, sadly, this is goodbye. I have blocked you and everyone else except CCHOLLEY, who has been very reasonable in his responses and I look forward to reading his well-documented replies. The rest of you can go pound sand.

If you’d like a view from the other side of the debate on all things liberal v. conservative you can go to MY blog, https://liberalsarenuts.com/. God forbid, you might actually learn something. And while I might engage you in debate if you comment on my blog posts, I won’t tell you to get lost.

And there you have it; liberal arrogance personified. Only they know anything. If you disagree with them, you are an ignorant, uneducated fool. Isn’t it interesting how often they lean on this “I’m educated and you’re not.” meme? You would think they’d be a little more introspective and take a look at the fruits of their labors. Better yet, they might want to ask themselves, “What did I learn from my $150,000 Ivy League education?” I can answer that. Not much. – The Liberator
