A few stubborn facts about refugee resettlement…

Here are a few facts from the Office of Refugee Resettlement which indicates that refugees are heavy users of federal programs. The following data are from 2013:

  • 91% of refugees who arrived between 2008-13 were receiving Food Stamps
  • 73% of refugees were receiving Medicaid or Refugee Medical Asistance
  • 68% were on some form of cash welfare
  • Many of the countries that output refugees, particularly Syria, are nearly 100% Muslim

Refugee resettlement is big business involving high-dollar collaboration between the U.S. government and the nine national Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s)

In summary, the United States exists to benefit our own citizens, and public policy should be made with that concept foremost in mind, not based on uninformed sentiment and emotion.
